The Spin

Working with Rodríguez offers the only realistic path to stability in Venezuela. The military controls the territory, and forcing an immediate democratic transition risks chaos, mass migration and civil war that would devastate the region. A pragmatic arrangement that secures cooperation on drugs, migration and energy while sidelining adversaries like Russia, Iran and China serves core interests without plunging millions into violence.

González Urrutia won the July 28, 2024 election by nearly 70% and the tally sheets prove it. Ignoring that mandate and empowering Maduro's vice president betrays the Venezuelan people's sovereignty expressed at the ballot box. Democracy cannot be built by those who orchestrated the institutional breakdown, and any transition administered by the regime that stole the election only prolongs authoritarianism under a different face.

No nation has the right to capture another country's head of state, administer its government or claim an entire hemisphere as its possession. This violates international law, the UN Charter and basic sovereignty. Venezuelans deserve to determine their own future without foreign bombs, sanctions or occupation disguised as temporary stewardship that always ends in devastation, not democracy.
