Kurti's Party Wins 50% in Kosovo Snap Election

Following his election victory, Kurti must not delay in prioritizing the badly needed reforms and agreements recommended by the EU, which include normalizing relations with Serbia. Implementing these is not only an essential condition of EU funding, but also necessary if Kosovo wishes to achieve its long-term aspirations for EU membership.

Kurti's decisive victory brings an end to Kosovo's political paralysis. In spite of the EU's protestations, Kurti was backed precisely because of his resistance to Serbian attempts to create privileged ethnic arrangements in Kosovo, not despite it. This strength offers the Balkans precisely what it needs — a democracy with strong red lines that will not bend to external pressure.
