Representatives of the U.S. and Ukraine held more than five hours of talks on Sunday and a lot of progress was made. The teams discussed the 20-point peace plan, economic agendas and other issues before agreeing to continue discussions on Monday.
Despite U.S. officials hailing progress, sources indicate that the talks were difficult, largely because U.S. officials demanded quick decision making and refused to drop their insistence that Ukraine should give up its own territory in the east.
The Kremlin is not being provided with updates in real time on U.S.-Ukraine talks in Berlin. It expects to be updated by U.S. officials in this respect once the talks are completed. Only then will Russia be able to provide a response on the state of negotiations.
There's a 50% chance there will be a bilateral ceasefire or peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine by May 2027, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
