Based on the preliminary information authorities have to hand, this was not a mass-shooting event and appears to be have been motivated by a personal dispute. While this was still a case of senseless violence, officials would like to reassure students that there is no ongoing threat and the university is safe to come back to.
While campus police and local law enforcement are no doubt working tirelessly to ensure the safety of students at KSU — responding to the threat and apprehending a suspect in a matter of minutes — it should still be noted that this is now the second shooting at the university in a matter of months after two people were shot and injured in August.
