The Spin

Democrats caved without securing healthcare extensions that would prevent millions from facing doubled premiums, accepting only empty promises of future votes. After holding unified for weeks, moderate Democrats abandoned their core demand and gave Republicans everything they wanted while 24 million Americans face skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Republicans finally broke the Democrat obstruction after 40 days by offering reasonable compromises that protect federal workers and guarantee healthcare votes. The bipartisan Senate deal restores SNAP benefits for 42 million Americans, reverses Trump's federal worker firings, and ensures back pay while Democrats got their promised vote on Affordable Care Act subsidies.

Metaculus Prediction

There is a 50% chance the US President will sign a continuing resolution or omnibus spending bill ending a government shutdown on 23 November, 2025, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
