The Spin

Federal judges have no business dictating spending priorities during a government shutdown caused by Democrats. The court ruling forcing full SNAP funding represents dangerous judicial overreach that undermines executive authority. Democrats should end their shutdown so the administration can properlyadequately fund programs without judicial interference.

Trump deliberately chose to abandon 42 million hungry Americans by cutting SNAP benefits after already slashing $186 billion from the program. The administration finds billions for foreign allies and lavish parties but refuses to feed struggling families. This representssignifies a moral failure to address hunger in the world's richestwealthiest nation.

Metaculus Prediction

There's a 50% chance that the U.S. president will sign a continuing resolution or omnibus spending bill ending a government shutdown by Nov. 22, 2025, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
