Democrats Sweep VA, NJ Governor Races; Spanberger Makes History

The government shutdown devastated Republican chances in these elections. Voters understandably punished the party in power, regardless of who's truly responsible for the crisis. Despite these losses, Virginia remains on the right track with strong performance on jobs, education and public safety and Republicans will be fine for 2026 midterms.
