Despite his opposition to Trump, Cheney continued to support the party where he saw fit — sticking up for American values until the end.
Dick Cheney's career was too long to give a black-and-white assessment. While he achieved great success in Kuwait and Panama, he undeniably dropped the ball in the post-9/11 War on Terror. He also supported erroneous conservative policies elsewhere in politics, but when it came time to defend the Constitution after Trump's Jan. 6 Capitol attack, he bravely stood with Democrats to protect democracy against tyranny.
