Trump's designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern is long overdue and morally necessary. Over 7,000 Christians were massacred in Nigeria this year alone by radical Islamists, making it the deadliest country for Christians globally. The Biden administration shamefully ignored this religious genocide, absurdly blaming climate change instead of confronting the systematic slaughter by Fulani jihadists and Boko Haram.
Claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria are false and dangerously misleading. Nigeria's complex security challenges affect all religious groups, with terrorist organizations like Boko Haram actually killing more Muslims than Christians. These inaccurate narratives reduce multifaceted conflicts driven by ethnic tensions and economic disparities into oversimplified religious persecution claims that risk stoking more violence.
