The Spin

D66's stunning victory proves voters reject Wilders' divisive politics and choose optimism over fear. Rob Jetten's positive campaign has delivered the party's biggest win in 59 years, expanding from 9 to 27 seats while Wilders crashed from 37 to 25. The far right has peaked in Europe, and this election is proof that mainstream parties can defeat extremism with the right message.

Jetten's win came only by abandoning D66's principles and copying Wilders' playbook on migration and nationalism. The so-called progressive patriot reclaimed the flag and pivoted right to steal votes, alienating his own base in the process. This wasn't a defeat of populism but its validation through imitation by establishment politicians.
