The Spin

Milei's move-fast-and-break-things approach is crumbling as lawmakers overwhelmingly overturn his vetoes and corruption scandals plague his party leadership. Financial conditions continue deteriorating while promised US aid remains vague and delayed until after the midterms. With his party holding minimal congressional seats and facing likely underperformance, Milei appears politically wounded and increasingly unable to implement his unpopular reform agenda.

Milei has delivered remarkable results, slashing inflation, balancing the budget and pulling millions of people out of poverty in under two years. The current economic turbulence stems from the opposition's fiscally irresponsible bills to undermine Argentina's hard-won stability. Argentina will choose whether to continue its escape from decades of economic mismanagement or to return to the destructive policies that created the crisis Milei inherited.

Metaculus Prediction
