The Spin

Israel’s latest killings in Gaza, just days into a ceasefire, show its disregard for Palestinian lives and peace. Even after a deal meant to end the bloodiest war, Israel continues using lethal force against civilians while claiming “self-defense.” No U.S.-brokered plan will bring peace without accountability for Israel’s ongoing violence.

Israel’s defensive actions in Gaza prove why peace remains fragile: Hamas still rules through fear, executing opponents and exploiting aid routes. Despite Trump’s historic deal and Israel’s restraint, militants keep violating the ceasefire lines, showing they never wanted peace. Until Gaza is free from Hamas’ tyranny, no agreement can guarantee Israel’s security.

President Trump's leadership has brought unprecedented peace to the Middle East. His 20-point Gaza peace plan, endorsed by global leaders at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in Egypt, marks a historic achievement. Even Former Presidents Biden and Clinton have praised his efforts, acknowledging his pivotal role in securing the ceasefire and hostage releases.

President Trump's so-called "peace" deal in Gaza is a fragile façade. While he touts a ceasefire, Hamas continues to exert control through violence, while Israel continues to kill Palestinians. The international community remains skeptical, with no clear commitment to enforce the agreement. There is an underlying lack of genuine progress toward lasting peace.

Metaculus Prediction

There is a 3% chance that Israel will establish direct governmental control of the Gaza Strip in 2025, according to the Metaculus community prediction.
