In a Truth Social post, the president explained that he settled on the decision after reviewing the “unserious and ridiculous demands” of the two Democratic minority leaders, which he stated made any meeting unproductive.

Trump claimed the Democrat demands included $1 trillion in healthcare, along with “Billions of Dollars in American Taxpayer Benefits,” for illegal aliens, funding for transgender surgeries on minors and cancelling the $50 billion rural health fund.

The development follows the Senate’s rejection of both parties’ bills to prevent a government shutdown last Friday, with neither the Republican measure (44-48) nor the Democrat measure (47-45) gaining the 60 votes required to break a Senate filibuster.
