While the deal with Norway is a commercial success for the U.K., serious questions remain about the implications this will have for Britain's defense. The Royal Navy is already suffering a severe capability gap, with its escort fleet reduced to a handful of worn-out Type 23 frigates. The deal will only exacerbate the problem, diverting new Type 26 frigates from the Royal Navy to Norway instead.
