The Spin

SCOTUS has delivered a massive win for the Trump administration, which was right in its argument that courts should have no power to hinder the executive branch's carrying out of crucial immigration policy — even while litigation is pending. Biden's parole pipeline for illegal immigrants must be dismantled and the deportations must begin immediately to keep America safe.

SCOTUS couldn't be more wrong about allowing the administration to revoke these immigrants' status while they're making their case to stay in America. Stays are meant to prevent as much pre-decision damage as possible, yet SCOTUS is allowing the administration to upend the lives of thousands of litigants, whose presence in the United State inflicts less damage on the country than they're now going to endure.

Metaculus Prediction

There's a 20% chance that at least twice as many deportations by U.S. ICE will occur in fiscal year 2025 compared with fiscal year 2024, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
