Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, set to head President-elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Wednesday revealed plans to “cut the federal government down to size,” torpedoing civil-service protections.

They stressed that most government enforcement decisions and spending are carried out by unelected officials and this "is antidemocratic and antithetical to the Founders’ vision." Musk and Ramaswamy didn't say how many jobs will be cut.
