US Pres.-elect Donald Trump has nominated Linda McMahon, who co-founded World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) with her husband Vince McMahon, to be the Secretary of the Department of Education (ED).
McMahon, 76, led the Small Business Administration during Trump's first presidency, and then became the chair of the pro-school choice America First Policy Institute. She previously also served on the Connecticut State Board of Education for about a year.
Linda McMahon is a great choice to take on the corrupt teachers' unions. She would disrupt the Democrat establishment's loyalty to the NEA and AFT, whose interests prioritize bureaucracy over children. As Democrats use failing schools to ask for more money, McMahon would dismantle inefficiencies in the DOE and advance brighter futures.
There are many reasons Linda McMahon shouldn't be in charge of DOE, most natably that she and her husband are currently being sued for turning a blind eye to sexual abuse at WWE. Trump doesn't care about that, however, because the McMahon's donated close to $1M dollars to his first campaign and is now controlled by the anti-education religious right.
