TikTok fights law that could ban app in U.S. in crucial hearing

Following a national security review of TikTok's parent firm ByteDance Ltd.'s establishment of TikTok Technology Canada Inc., Industry Minister FranÃ§ois-Philippe Champagne ordered the closure of TikTok's Canadian operations on Wednesday.

Champagne emphasized that the goal is not to restrict Canadians' access to TikTok or their ability to create content. The industry minister stated that using social media platforms is ultimately a personal choice and stressed the importance of protecting personal information.
