Grandfather of ‘murdered’ girl calls for son to turn himself in as police track phone

Sara Sharif, a 10-year-old girl who was found dead at her Surrey home in the UK in August 2023, was reportedly forced by her father into all-night sit-ups because she hid his keys. Sharif's stepmother had accused her father Urfan Sharif of thrashing the child for being "naughty.”

The stepmother, Beinash Batool — who, along Urfan Sharif and his brother Faisal Malik, is under trial for the girl's murder — reportedly informed her sister Qandeela Saboohi via WhatsApp messages sent in 2020 and 2023 about the physical abuse, adding "he will live to regret."

In one such message, Batool referred to an image of a bruised Sara Sharif, saying, “You haven’t even seen her body, it’s a whole lot worse.” Before her death, the child was beaten with a cricket bat, burned with an iron, restrained, and “homemade hood” placed over her head.

In another message sent in 2021, Batool reportedly said she wanted to report Urfan Sharif about the abuse after "she literally fainted in the kitchen in the morning. He made her do sit-ups all night." Things got so bad the family even considered removing the girl from school.

Batool, Sharif, and Malik are accused of a campaign of abuse leading to Sara Sharif's death. Batool and Sharif have blamed each other for the violence — Batool described her taxi driver husband as "possessed" by a jinn — while Malik, a university student, has denied involvement.

The three were seen fleeing to Pakistan on Aug. 10, two days after Sarah Sharif's death. The girl's body was found with over 70% injuries, including human bite marks and burns, after Urfan Sharif called from Pakistan. The trio was arrested on Sept. 13, 2023, at Gatwick Airport.
