1White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday that outgoing US Pres. Joe Biden will attend the inauguration of his successor next year regardless of who wins the election.
2She added that Biden "believes in the peaceful transfer of power" and that attending the inauguration is "not about him" but rather "what the American people need to see."
3The ceremony that takes place every four years on Jan. 20, or the next day if Jan. 20 falls on a Sunday, as the 20th Amendment to the US Constitution says that "the terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon" on Jan. 20.
