A gasoline tanker overturned and exploded in Jigawa State, Nigeria, resulting in at least 94 deaths and approximately 50 injuries, as people rushed to collect fuel from the vehicle.
The incident occurred past midnight in Majiya town when the tanker driver lost control while traveling on a highway near a university, causing the vehicle to veer off course to avoid a collision with a truck.
Residents who heard about the accident hurried to the scene to scoop up fuel, which led to a massive inferno that claimed numerous lives on the spot, according to police spokesperson Lawan Adam.
