US Vice Pres. Kamala Harris has been accused of plagiarism by Austrian professor Stefan Weber within with her book "Smart on Crime," co-written with Joan O'C. Hamilton.

Weber claims to have found 27 "fragments" of plagiarism with Harris' book, including "virtually an entire" Wikipedia article on Midtown Community Court, as well an anecdote from Martin Luther King Jr. "appropriated... as her own memory as a child."

Other examples include text allegedly lifted from The Associated Press concerning a 2008 report on high school dropout rates, as well as a press release from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice on crime in High Point, N.C..

Weber's investigation was exclusively shared by Christopher Rufo, a fellow at the right-leaning Manhattan Institute for Policy Research. So far, Rufo's initial post on X has gathered over 16M views.

The book was published whilst Harris was district attorney for San Fransisco in 2009. Commenting on the matter, a Harris campaign spokesperson stated that the now-Vice President "clearly cited sources and statistics in footnotes and endnotes throughout."
