The Facts

  • After Yemen's Houthis fired three ballistic missiles on Tel Aviv and central Israel in recent weeks, including one on Saturday, the IDF attacked them with dozens of aircraft, including F-15I fighter jets, 1,800 kilometers from Israeli territory on Sunday.

  • According to the Israeli military, the planes struck power stations and a seaport that imports Iranian weaponry. Al-Masirah, the Houthi-run news channel, reported four deaths at the al-Hali power station in Hodeidah, Yemen, wounding at least 33. Death toll may climb.

  • A Houthi spokesman, Nasruddin Amer, stated on X that they had emptied the oil stores at Yemen's ports, Ras al-Issa and Hodeidah, beforehand. The official stated that the IDF bombings would not prevent further Houthi missile strikes on Israel.

The Spin

Tehran and its Houthi proxies pose a threat to the State of Israel, regional stability, and global navigation. The IDF's attack in Yemen on Sunday demonstrated Israel's ability to conduct long-range military operations with dozens of IAF aircraft and mid-air refueling aircraft. The targets were the Houthi terrorist regime's power plants and seaport. It was a significant strike and showed Israel's resolve to retaliate against all its enemies, both near and far. This while Israel continues to conduct military operations in Gaza and Lebanon.

In less than a year, Israel killed 42K and wounded 100K Palestinians, mainly women and children. In just a month, another 1K people have died in Lebanon, and the IDF is now conducting airstrikes in Yemen. How can this continue? Why does the UN Security Council watch Israel perpetrate unprecidented terrible crimes, one atrocity after another? The world expects the UNSC to take action against Tel Aviv and put an end to Israel's genocidal military attack against the Palestinian people.

The IDF airstrike on Yemen's Hodeidah port on Sunday was the second such attack. The previous strike on July 20th was an illegal, indiscriminate, or disproportionate attack on civilian facilities that could affect millions of people because the port provides food and humanitarian relief. IDF airstrikes follow the Houthi missile attacks. Both sides' attacks appear to cause disproportionate harm to civilians and property, which could amount to war crimes.
