The Spin

Wednesday was a good day for Canada, but a bad day for the Conservative Party. Trudeau's minority government defeated a motion of no -confidence in the House of Commons. If the motion had passed, it would have caused chaos in the country, forcing the government to resign and triggering an immediate election campaign. That would not have been a responsible thing to do at this time. There will now be "talks" between the Liberal government, the Bloc, and NDP about their policy requests.

Many Canadians are holding PM Trudeau personally responsible for the rising inflation and high cost of living., Surveysas indicatethey that most people feel it is time for a new PM and a new governmentshould. Trudeau's popularity has been declining for years, as Canadiansa find it increasingly difficult to make ends meet due to rising costs. A majority believe Conservative leader Poilievre has the best plan when it comes to crucial issues such as housing, health care, and the economy. It's time for Trudeau to do what's best for the country — step down.

Metaculus Prediction

There is an 85% chance Pierre Poilievre will become prime minister of Canada before 2026, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
