Putin’s crackdown casts a wide net, ensnaring the LGBTQ+ community, lawyers and many others

Russia's lower parliamentary chamber, the State Duma, voted 397-1 on Wednesday to ban foreign nationals of countries that allow medical gender transitions, as well as gender changes on official government identification documents, from adopting Russian children.

The law, which will ban countries that allow a "change of sex by medical intervention, including with the use of medicine," is expected to be implemented after it passes two more readings and the upper chamber and is signed by Pres. Vladimir Putin.

According to the State Duma, the banned countries will include NATO member states, with Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin reported last week as saying Austria, Australia, and Argentina will also be included.

This comes as Russia, which previously banned US nationals from adopting its children in 2012, has introduced a series of LGBTQ+ measures, including against what it calls "LGBT propaganda."

As of the beginning of this year, Russia's children's care homes reportedly house some 358K minors, with six foreign adoptions documented in 2023.

As Western countries promote degeneracy under the mask of faux progressivism, Russia stands strong in its defense of both moral and logical values. No matter how hard the West tries to validate its destruction of biology, childhood innocence, and family values, Russia will remain a safe haven for those who wish not to embark on that dark path.
