"The MPC's [Monetary Policy Committee's] latest projections indicate that monetary policy is likely to need to be restrictive for an extended period of time."

When Will the Bank of England Cut Interest Rates?

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for "national renewal" and warned of "unpopular" decisions despite "light at the end of the tunnel" during his speech at the Labour Party conference on Tuesday.

During his speech, Starmer announced his intent to pass a duty of candour for public authorities and public servant named the "Hillsborough law" by next April which will include criminal sanctions.

Starmer also pledged to house "all veterans in housing need" and announced that publicly-owned GB Energy was to be headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Those who partook in the summer's UK riots were described as "racist thugs," whilst the Prime Minister claimed that he had "always accepted concerns about immigration were legitimate" and pledged to reduce "economic dependency" on net migration.

The Prime Minister called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, "restraint and de-escalation" between Israel and Lebanon, and reaffirmed "steadfast support" for Ukraine.

However, the Prime Minister's speech was interrupted by an 18-year-old protester who criticized the UK's approach to the ongoing Gaza conflict. This comes after Starmer had glitter thrown on him when speaking at last year's conference.
