The shooting at a secondary school in Sanski Most, Bosnia and Herzegovina, that killed three teachers was a tragic incident. Illegal military weapons have flooded the Balkans since the wars in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. However, mass shootings like this one are rare.
Despite the abundance of military-grade weapons accessible, there have been relatively few mass shootings in the Balkans. However, Wednesday's shooting was the third in just 15 months. This could indicate an alarming trend.
