The Facts

• A former janitor opened fire with an automatic weapon at the Sanski Most Gymnasium - a secondary school in north west Bosnia on Wednesday, killing three. The school dean, secretary, and English instructor died in the attack.

• The shooter used a "military weapon, an automatic rifle" in the attack that took place around 10 am local time. The shooter is in serious condition after trying to kill himself. A hospital near Banja Luka is treating the shooter, according to the police.

• No students were present at the time of the shooting as schools in Bosnia are closed for the summer holiday. Teachers were convening to make preparations for the upcoming school year.
