Venezuela's electoral authority has declared Pres. Nicolás Maduro the winner of Sunday's presidential election after he secured 51.2% of the vote.
The 61-year-old Maduro dedicated his win to his mentor and predecessor, Hugo Chávez, vowing to "defend our democracy, our law and our people."
With 80% of the vote counted, the opposition candidate and Maduro's main rival, Edmundo González, received about 44% votes.
