Paris prosecutors announced on Sunday that an investigation has been launched into alleged online death threats against three Israeli athletes at the Paris Olympics after a report from France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
This comes as the Israeli foreign minister, Israel Katz, warned his French counterpart, Stéphane Séjourné, in a letter on Thursday that intelligence assessments suggested a potential Iranian-backed plot to attack Israelis during the Games.
Meanwhile, Paris 2024 officials have filed a complaint with police over possible antisemitic acts during the men's soccer game between Israel and Paraguay on Saturday, which featured pro-Palestine chants and banners — and boos for the Israeli national anthem.
