Leader of Mexico's Sinaloa Drug Cartel and "El Chapo’s" Son Arrested in Texas

The Facts

• The alleged leader of Mexico's Sinaloa cartel Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada García and the son of his jailed ex-partner, Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, were arrested by US federal agents on Thursday on US soil.

• Zambada and Guzmán López are facing multiple charges in the US for allegedly running the cartel's criminal operations, "including its deadly fentanyl manufacturing and trafficking networks," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.

• The two suspected drug lords got arrested by FBI agents in El Paso, Texas after reportedly boarding a plane to inspect an estate in Mexico. At least one of the men is said to have been unaware that they were on their way to the US.
