The Facts

• The Yemeni Houthi rebels took credit for a suspected drone attack in central Tel Aviv near the US embassy branch office early on Friday, in which one person was reportedly killed and at least ten injured.

• A Houthi spokesperson described the attack as a "victory for the oppressed Palestinian people and their fighters." The attack was allegedly carried out by a new drone called "Jaffa" capable of evading interception systems according to the Houthis.

• The rebels added that they had attacked "one of the important targets in the occupied Jaffa region, what is now called Israeli Tel Aviv," and vowed to carry out further attacks on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
