1The UN agency for gender equality, UN Women, said in a new report on Wednesday that displaced women and girls in Haiti are facing an "unprecedented" spike in insecurity, including sexual and gender-based violence, as instability persists.
2UN Women pointed that poor living conditions and lack of security in makeshift camps have exposed most of them to aggressions, notably rape, on a daily basis.
3According to the agency, there are 300K women and girls displaced in Haiti. Nearly 90% of those interviewed in its survey have no source of income, and more than 10% of them have at least considered turning to prostitution to meet their needs.
