Elon Musk said Tuesday that he'll move the headquarters of SpaceX CEO and X from California to Texas in response to a new law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) forbidding schools from informing parents if their children identify as transgender.

The law, signed Monday, comes after several school districts in California passed rules that required teachers to tell parents if their child starts using names or pronouns that differ from their sex assigned at birth.

Musk, SpaceX chief executive officer and X owner, called the mandate "the final straw" in an X post and cited earlier legislation that he deemed "attacking both families and companies."

Musk said the SpaceX headquarters will move from Hawthorne to Starbase, and X will shift from San Francisco to Austin.

Previously, the entrepreneur, who has a transgender daughter, had moved his residence from California to Texas, a state that levies no personal income tax.
