The Facts
Court filings released Tuesday show that the Department of Justice (DOJ) authorized FBI agents to use “deadly force” during their Aug. 8, 2022 raid of former Pres. Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in search of classified documents.
The newly unsealed filing contained an “operations order” which detailed how agents were allowed to conduct their raid and what they were allowed to bring. The DOJ says its line about deadly force is directly from its manual about use of force and is in line with common practices.

It’s wholly unsurprising that Donald Trump would rashly make false claims to deceive the public and play victim after the recent court filings were unsealed. The FBI has already shown that the Mar-a-Lago search was conducted under standard DOJ protocols without any authorization of additional force. However, Trump is trying to manipulate standard documents to fit his victim agenda.
