Republican candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday agreed to debate Pres. Joe Biden in June and September, calling him “the WORST debater I have ever faced.”
Former Pres. Trump posted on Truth Social he was "ready and willing to Debate Crooked Joe," and that he'd want more than the two rounds Biden has proposed.
Trump sees a debate with Biden as an opportunity to hold Biden accountable, offer a contrast in vision, and appeal to suburban women and minority voters, particularly on issues like immigration and economic security. Despite the expected contentiousness, a debate could provide voters a clear contrast between the two candidates.
Joe Biden should only have agreed to debate Donald Trump if he released his tax returns for 2016-2018 and a real-time fact-checking team is present to call out misleading statements or lies during the debate. Only this would provide voters with a fair opportunity to judge.
