The US reportedly gave Saudi Arabia unofficial approval to revive a peace deal with Yemen's Houthi rebels as Washington seeks to keep Riyadh engaged in a peace process with Israel.
Washington is reportedly set to comply with the Saudis' desire for talks with the Houthis, as Washington needs the Saudis' support to end the Gaza conflict, persuade them to agree to a US defence pact and normalize relations with Israel.
That the US is now desperately looking to revive the Saudi-Houthi peace process is the final admission of Washington's regional defeat. The Saudi-Israel "normalization efforts" and the Yemen war were part of a US-led geopolitical strategy to reshape the region in favor of the Israeli regime. Yet the Houthis not only foiled this plan, but they also embarrassed the US in the Red Sea. If Washington and the Saudis want peace, they must end their aggression against Yemen and Gaza.
