TikTok’s relationship with the Chinese government poses too great of a risk for average Americans, but it certainly doesn’t matter for the President. The hypocrisy of the Biden campaign is obvious as his campaign defends his use of the app on the same day he signed a bill to ban it. However, with 170M American users, most of whom are young, TikTok is an integral part of Biden’s re-election campaign. This means that the White House will make up an excuse to keep posting. TikTok is a very popular app, especially among young voters, and it's perfectly reasonable for the Biden campaign to keep using it. The bill Biden signed asks ByteDance to sell TikTok to an American company within nine months, which means the app will still be up and running in the US through the end of the year. The campaign has made sure to take necessary precautions, and it will not forfeit a key medium of voter outreach if it doesn’t have to.
There is a 30% chance that TikTok will be sold to a US entity before 2025, according to the Metaculus prediction community.
