Both the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have announced that they have raised $50.5M from a Palm Beach, Florida, dinner last weekend in support of former pres. Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.

Both the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have announced that they have raised nearly $51M at an event last weekend in Palm Beach, Florida, in support of former pres. Donald Trump's 2024 presidential bid.

The figure from Saturday's "Inaugural Leadership Dinner" is nearly double the approximately $26M raised by US Pres. Joe Biden alongside former pres. Bill Clinton and Barack Obama in March, and is a record for the most raised at a single event.

The fundraiser came after the Trump campaign and the RNC announced earlier the same week that nearly $66M had been raised in the month of March, taking their total cash in hand to $93M. By merging their fundraising efforts in February, the maximum an individual can donate to the Trump campaign has increased from $3K to over $800K.

Trump had been expected to raise approximately $43M on the night. In comparison, the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced the same weekend as Trump's Palm Beach fundraiser that they had received $90M in March, taking their total cash in hand to $192M.

The Trump campaign claimed in a joint press statement following the fundraising total that the former pres. had "the message, the operation, and the money" to once again enter the White House. In addition, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley stated that Americans were "lining up" to help Trump "retire Crooked Joe Biden."

As of Apr. 8, RealClearPolitics' polling averages place Trump (46.2%) 0.3 percentage points ahead of Biden (45.9%), having led polling since later Oct. 2023.
