The U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution on Wednesday recognizing the transatlantic slave trade as "the gravest crime against humanity," with 123 countries voting in favor, three against and 52 abstaining. The resolution was championed by Ghana and backed by the African Union and the Caribbean Community.
