Salva Kiir Mayardit

Salva Kiir Mayardit has served as President of South Sudan since the country's independence in 2011. A former Sudan People's Liberation Army commander, he led South Sudan through civil war from 2013-2018 and ongoing political instability. His presidency has been marked by economic challenges, humanitarian crises, and efforts to implement peace agreements with opposition groups.
