Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost in Chicago in 1955, is the first American-born and first Augustinian pope, as well as a naturalized Peruvian citizen who spent many years as a missionary in Peru. Elected in May 2025, he succeeded Pope Francis as the 267th pontiff and is recognized for his commitment to social justice, ecclesial reform, and bridging global divisions within the Catholic Church.
