Chioma Chukwu-Smith is a Nigerian-American filmmaker and director best known for her 2019 film "Clemency," which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. She became the first Black woman to win the award. Chukwu-Smith's work focuses on social justice themes, particularly the criminal justice system and capital punishment in America.
