Pramila Jayapal

Pramila Jayapal is the U.S. Representative for Washington's 7th Congressional District, encompassing most of Seattle and surrounding areas. Born in Chennai, India, she immigrated to the U.S. at 16 and became the first South Asian American woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016. A member of the Democratic Party, Jayapal is known for her advocacy on progressive issues, including healthcare reform, immigration rights, and social justice.
