Dr. Semra Sevi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto, cross-appointed with the Munk School of Global Affairs. She is also a Faculty Fellow at the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society. Dr. Sevi earned her PhD in Political Science from the Université de Montréal and holds Honours BA and MA degrees in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on electoral behaviour, political representation, public opinion, electoral institutions, and the role of women in politics. She has developed a comprehensive dataset documenting every candidate who ran in Canadian federal and Ontario provincial elections since 1867, facilitating groundbreaking studies on Canadian democracy. Dr. Sevi's work has been published in leading academic journals, and she serves as an Associate Editor at Research & Politics.
