The U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire less than two hours before U.S. President Donald Trump's deadline, after Trump warned that "a whole civilization will die tonight" if a deal with Iran was not agreed upon by 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the arrangement as a "double-sided ceasefire" dependent on the Strait of Hormuz reopening.
